So Much Love

These girls love their brother so much that it makes my heart want to burst. I'm so grateful that he has two awesome big sisters to love him (often a little too much) and take good care of him. How did I get so lucky to get these three?

I'll never forget the moment when these girls got to come to the hospital to meet sweet Max. They were so excited. Trever had yanked them out of bed super early (5:45 a.m.) and dropped them off at a neighbor's house ... jammies, soggy pull-up, bedhead and all.

The nurses finally let Max out of the nursery around 11, so after snuggling him for an hour, Trever left to pick up the girls, grab some lunch and bring them up to see brother.

It was love at first sight!

I expected them to be timid and shy at the hospital. I was wrong. They ran right in, announced to the front desk staff "we're here to see Baby Max" and fought over who got to hold him first.

The hospital staff all fell in love with the girls (well, and Max too). The gave the girls ice cream sandwiches and they threw a little happy birthday party for Max.

The girls sang happy birthday to their brother, ate ice cream, climbed all over the bed, called the nurses (twice), ate my lunch (which arrived 30 seconds after the girls showed up), smothered their brother and found my secret stash of candy (because after giving birth, I think you get a free pass to eat whatever you want, whenever you want).

They were sad to leave and go back to their "babysitter's house," but they reluctantly left after we promised they could come back up first thing in the morning to see brother again. And, we might have bribed them to be good by promising them that Grandma and Grandpa were on their way and would pick them up when it was time for dinner.
